Required Reading for Sustainability Sponsors and club members
Knowledge of sustainability and its varying applications have become an indispensable part of life in the twenty-first century. As Kuwait shows stronger interest in innovative technologies which target the sustainable management of a healthier economy and environment, numerous enterprises and organizations focusing on awareness of the sustainable use of both renewable and nonrenewable resources have emerged. Many civil society organizations work in conjunction with these sustainability groups to promote the well-being and human rights of community members within Kuwait and the GCC.
To be prepared to manage the challenges of global and local changes to a sustainable economy, the new youth generation requires a different and innovative approach to education. As ASK’s Sustainability Coordinator, I've created a program that challenges our students to contribute to a sustainable use of resources, to develop and utilize technology in the most natural way, and to be caring global citizens who give back to their community.
Students and mentors in the Sustainability program believe that sustainability is a trigger for changing, shaping, and preserving the future, and for developing creative, educated citizens that are capable of addressing future challenges. With the application of design thinking, these student leaders will increase sustainability efforts by empowering students to lead campaigns on waste reduction and promote environmental and humanitarian awareness.
Elementary Sustainability Club students create a public awareness campaign encouraging citizens of Kuwait to reduce their waste consumption.
Students are the best proponents of change. Here a 5th graders gives a speech to hundreds of students during an assembly of the negative effects of plastic pollution.
